Tell DeKalb Commissioners: Protect Water & Water Affordability

FIGHTING FOR equitable water access & ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

In DeKalb County, Georgia, the Dekalb Water Watch coalition is organizing against exorbitant water bills, shutoffs, and sanitary sewage pollution. This crisis has disproportionately affected Black residents, residents with disabilities, and families, according to recent research by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Join Dekalb Water Watch and let the Board of Commissioners know that you demand fair and equitable treatment of all residents. Sign your name, follow the Facebook Group, and learn more here.

Demanding Equal Protection for All

Tell EPA: remove "Priority" language from the DeKalb consent decree

This unprecedented language means DeKalb County is not required to fix the sewer system in “non-priority” areas which include over 2/3 of the county – primarily along the South River in south DeKalb where 71% of residents are Black. The Priority language undermines the Clean Water Act, setting a precedent that threatens water protection nationwide. Click here for more info.

SEND AS WRITTEN OR CRAFT Your OWN message.

  • Remove "Priority” language from the DeKalb County consent decree.

  • All people and all waterways deserve equal protection under the law.

  • The EPA has an obligation to address ongoing environmental injustice and protect disproportionately polluted communities.
